Football team end the season with a 2-7 record
The Indians ended their football season with a loss of 31-24 against the McPherson Bullpups on Oct. 30. The Indians went into the game with two district losses and a record of 2-6.
The first points were put on the board by the Bullpups as they drove 53 yards in 12 plays to score the first touchdown in the game.
They scored again three plays later on a third and goal from the 19-yard line, and scored a two point conversion, getting a head start with a 14-0 lead with about seven minutes to go in the second quarter.
Just before the end of the half, the Indians scored their first touchdown of the game with a 28-yard pass from sophomore Hunter Brown to senior Jared Haynes.
On the following possession, senior Maddux Winter intercepted a pass by the Bullpups. The Indians scored again with a 24-yard touchdown by senior Keith Dryden. This tied the score at 14-14 at the half.
The second half opened with a long drive and a field goal that put them back in the lead at 17-14. Hays then took their first lead of the game at 21-17 with a five yard touchdown run by Dryden in the third quarter.
After another touchdown by McPherson in the fourth quarter, the Indians tied the game at 24 points with a 40-yard field goal by sophomore Logan Clark with just 2:56 left in the game. McPherson would score a touchdown pass with 27 seconds left, and take the win with a score of 31-24.
The Indians concluded their football season with an overall record of 2-7, and a district record of 0-3.
