The Indians fall to Garden City during homecoming game
The Indians hosted the Garden City Buffalos Sept. 25 for the homecoming game. Garden City came into the game with a 3-0 record while the Indians had just won their first game against Liberal a week before, improving to a record of 1-2.
The game began with a field goal by Garden City which gave them a 3-0 advantage in the first quarter. The Indians’ offense put points on the board with a touchdown and a field goal made in the second quarter, putting them in the lead.
The Buffalos went on to score an additional 21 points in the second quarter which left Garden City leading 24-7 in the first half.
While the Indians did not score at all in the third quarter, the Buffalos scored one touchdown and one field goal ending the third quarter at 31-7.
Both teams ended up scoring evenly with each other in the last quarter. They both scored one touchdown and one field goal, and the Indians were defeated 38-14.
Hays will be up for another fight this week as they go head to head with Wichita South on Oct. 2.
