Indians cruise to 42-28 over Garden City
The Indian football team improved to 4-0 with a 42-28 win at Garden City on Sept. 26.
After Hays scored touchdowns on its first two possessions, Garden City responded with a touchdown to make the score 14-7 in the second period.
The Buffaloes then forced Hays into a three-and-out and drove the ball inside the 10 yard line but coughed it up. Two plays later, Delton scored from 84 yards to give the Indians a 21-7 halftime lead.
After the break, it was all Hays as the Indians scored three times to build a 42-7 lead. In the fourth quarter, Garden City scored 21 points, but it was too little too late for the Buffaloes as the Indians held on for the easy win.
Hays had 620 yards of total offense, including 472 on the ground. Accounting for 312 of those yards and four touchdowns on only 10 carries was Delton. Delton also had 148 yards on 8-14 passing. Hayden Kruetzer also had a big game as he rushed for 77 yards and caught five passes for 92 yards.
The next action for the Indians will be Friday when they host Wichita South at Homecoming.
