From Feb. 22 through Feb. 24, the Hays High School orchestra students who qualified went to Wichita for the Kansas Music Educators Association state orchestra.
Orchestra students who participated included seniors Evyn Cox, Connor Miller and Brendan Stults. Alex Crowley, Hays Middle School’s orchestra teacher, attended the event along with them.
Orchestra students practiced for about 21 hours in the three days and performed during the night of Feb. 24.
“On the 24th, we played ‘5 Variations of Dives and Lazarus,’ ‘Argentine Suite,’ ‘Serenade’ and ‘Austrius,’” Miller said. “I feel like I performed well overall, and as a group, we played great. Everyone was talented, and I’m glad I could attend.”
