Hays High Art Club holds second meeting of the year

Hays High’s Art Club held its second meeting of the year on Oct. 5.

To start the meeting, the new officers introduced themselves. Every officer shared short facts about themselves and showed examples of their art. The officers this year are senior Mahala Gregg and juniors Allie Connor, Jayden Hinrichs, Alivia Sellens and Keira Vilaysing.

“My favorite thing about being an Art Club officer is the opportunity to share my ideas and do something helpful that I’m excited about,” Hinrichs said.

The officers run the meetings and decide what the club will do for each month with the help of club sponsor and art teacher Grace Splichal.

For the month of October, the club will be taking part in “Inktober.” Each day of the month has a prompt that participants must create a drawing for.

At the art club meeting in November, the members will bring their favorite drawings that they created during October to share if they would like.

“I’m excited to see what everyone is working on for Inktober, and I’m excited to share my work as well,” Hinrichs said.
