On Wednesday, Nov. 29, the Options Student Advisory Board had another victim of assault talk to students about her story of domestic violence.

The guest speaker was Madison Bainter, who told students the story about her toxic relationship and how it affected her and the people around her. Bainter was in college when she first experienced assault in her relationship, but she battled her assaulter for multiple years thereafter.

Although Bainter is no longer in that toxic relationship, she said she learned a lot about proper and improper relationships from her experience. Bainter said she is now in a healthy relationship with someone who treats her correctly.

This is the second guest speaker Options has had to speak to students this semester.

“I think guest speakers help the students realize that situations we talk about are really happening around the world,” junior Arely Maldonado said. “It affects them by helping them learn how to get yourself out of that situation if it was necessary.”
