Band sells mattresses, other items to raise money
The Hays High band held a mattress fundraiser on Sunday, Nov. 7 in the cafeteria from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
This year, the band partnered with a new business, Horizon Appliance and Electronics.
The sale did not just include a variety of mattresses; there were also pillows, bedding, Traeger grills, pellets and even a television on display.
“There was just a little something for everybody,” band director Matt Rome said.
While sales have not been totaled up yet, Rome said he believes the fundraiser went well.
“For our first try working with Horizon, I think it was a really good first outing,” Rome said.
Rome said he hopes to increase sales and attendance in coming years.
“We’re going to make this an annual event,” Rome said. ” When people know what to expect — the band mattress fundraiser — the consistency will help build that [attendance].”
