Students participate in virtual career fair called ‘CampBiz’
On Wednesday, Nov. 3, students were given the opportunity to listen to speakers at a virtual career fair, called CampBiz, and on Wednesday, Nov. 10, they could participate in CampMed.
The sessions were about 15-20 minutes each and held in either the library or cafeteria.
CampBiz included speakers who had careers in Community Development, Early Childhood Development, Graphic Design, Media, Cosmetology, Finance, Law Enforcement, Education (Teaching) and Floral Design/Entrepreneurship.
CampMed featured Physical Therapy (Sports Medicine), Pharmacy, Chiropractic, Veterinary Medicine, Emergency Medical Services, Salina KU School of Medicine, Nursing, Doctor and Optometry speakers.
Sophomore Evyn Cox attended the finance career presentation on Nov. 3 and planned to attend the doctor presentation on Nov. 10.
“I learned that one of the best ways to get into a career is to intern and volunteer, so you can learn more about the career,” Cox said. “I think it’s important for students to take advantage of these types of opportunities because they can learn more about certain careers, and if students are unsure of what profession they want to go into, this will help them know if they are interested in a certain one.”
The third virtual career fair, CampTech, will be Wednesday, Nov. 17 and will feature Computer (IT/Cybersecurity), Telecommunications, Diesel Technologies, Mechanists, Plumbing and Electrical, Construction and Home Remodel, Precision Agriculture, Auto Collusion Repair, Agricultural Engineering and Welding speakers.
