FFA holds Greenhand conference in Russell
On Wednesday, Oct. 20, first-year FFA members attended a greenhand conference held in Russell.
“First-year members of FFA are considered ‘greenhands,’” FFA district officer junior Karli Neher said. “This is a conference for them to test their FFA knowledge in a competition, go to workshops and interact with other greenhands from our district.”
A total of six other districts came to the event, and 287 greenhands were registered.
Neher and fellow district officer junior Amelia Jaeger led Hays High freshmen Kara Bemis, Kaden Haas, Cole McDonough, Preston Parr, Aaron Smith, Clare Tholstrup, Marisa Wasinger, Bryce Werth, Carter Werth and Evan Younger and sophomores Elsie Chartier, Georgia Edmonds and Kinlee May at the conference.
“My favorite part was hosting a workshop,” Neher said. “Amelia Jaeger and I led a workshop on teamwork, communication and leadership.”
