Hays High holds Academic and Athletic Awards Ceremony
Hays High held its Athletic and Academic Award Ceremony on May 10 in Gym A.
The presenters thanked the Academic Booster Club and Athletic Booster Club officers, as well as the sponsors of scholarships.
All students who obtained a 4.0 GPA were recognized.
The 2020-2021 Western Athletic Conference All-Academic Team was also recognized. They introduced the students in attendance with their academic achievements and athletics.
One student from each class received the Hays High Class of 1966 Class Award. The recipients are as follows: freshman Henry Fitzthum, sophomore Mackenzie Hagerman, junior Jersey Johnson and senior Nathan Casper.
Thirteen students were awarded with Honor Letters. They include senior Maia Lummus, junior Dalton Dale, junior Jordan Dale, junior Landri Dotts, junior Gavin Meyers, junior Caroline Robben, junior Grace Wente, sophomore Keiarra Gonzales, sophomore Avery Harmoney, sophomore Carly Lang, senior Dalyn Schwarz, sophomore Grayson Walburn and freshman Addison Otte.
Eleven seniors were awarded with the Kansas Department of Education Seal of Biliteracy. Gold was awarded to Marrissa Raynesford, Kai Shaffer and Fernando Zarate. Silver was awarded to Gabriel Garcia, Ginny Ke, Cristina Leos, Andrea Lopez, McKena McBride, Nicolas Park, William Scott and Sydney Walker.
Hays High Class of 1967 Scholarship was awarded to seniors Alexandra Aldrich, Madison Geerdes, Audrey Irvin, Hope Kisner, Audrey Rymer, Claire Shippy, Daylen Vaughn and Alexis White.
The Kansas Head Start Alumni High School Senior Scholarship was awarded to Brent Rohr.
The Casper J. Middlekauff American Legion Auxiliary Unit 173 Scholarship was awarded to Audrey Rymer.
The Ellis County Senior 4-H Scholarships were awarded to Ean Dexter, Kaleb Neher, Nicolas Park and Monique William.
The Golden Belt Bank Scholarships were awarded to Madison Geerdes and Kaitlyn Suppes.
The Pheasants Forever Scholarship was awarded to Claire Shippy.
The Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 939 Scholarship was awarded to Nathan Casper.
The Hays Wrestling Club Scholarships was awarded to Colter Conger.
The Nex-Tech “Break the Rules” Scholarships were awarded to Alicia Feyerherm, Claire Shippy and Lauren Wagner.
The Nex-Tech Youth Tour Scholarship Award was awarded to Shelby Alexander and Matthew Bollig.
The Shelter Insurance Foundation Scholarship was awarded to Allison Brooks and Kassandra Zimmer.
The Hays High Helping Hands Scholarship was awarded to Ean Dexter and Brent Rohr.
The HHS Family and Consumer Science Department awarded scholarships to Keegan McCoy, Caden Riat, and Brent Rohr.
Hays High FFA Chapter Scholarship was awarded to Nolan Klaus, Kaleb Neher, Grace Redetzke, Cayden Sanders, Madalyn William, and Monique William.
The Hays FFA Chapter Degree was awarded to junior Karli Neher, sophomore Amelia Jaeger, sophomore Jalynn Weilert and sophomore Cyrus Vajnar.
Cody Joseph Younger FFA Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Monique William and Kaleb Neher.
America’s Farmers Grow Ag Leaders as well as the Ford Trucks/Built Ford Tough Scholarship were awarded to Monique William.
The Better Business Bureau Scott Mecham Student of Integrity Award Scholarship was awarded to Audrey Rymer.
The Kansas Association of Directors of Plant Facilities was awarded to Colter Conger.
The Horatio Algers State Scholar was awarded to Allison Shubert.
The Jordyn Claiborn Free Spirit Award was awarded to Hope Schumacher.
The Ana Hertel Scholarship was awarded to Marrissa Raynesford and Madalyn William.
The Bill Auman Family Scholarship was awarded to Derek Eichman.
The Bob Kuhn Courage Award was awarded to Christina Leos and Remington Cox.
The Hays High Student Council Leadership Scholarship was awarded to Audrey Rymer.
The American Red Cross Blood Services Young Minds Change Lives Scholarship was awarded to Alicia Feyerherm and Audrey Irvin.
The Hays High June Reynolds National Honor Society Scholarship was awarded to Alicia Feyerherm.
The Hays High Alumni Associations Scholarship was awarded to Derek Eichman.
The Air Force Recruiting Service Mathematics and Science Award went to Kilee Hale.
The American Legion Award was awarded to Alicia Feyerherm and Caden Riat.
The National Federation of High Schools Award of Excellence was awarded to Sophia Garrison, Ginny Ke, and Fernando Zarate.
The United States Marine Corp Scholastic Excellence Award went to Ginny Ke and Andrew Duke.
The United States Marine Corp Distinguished Athlete Award goes to Magdalen Robben and Dawson VonFeldt.
The “Semper Fidelis” Award of Musical Excellence was awarded to Ashley Vilaysing.
The Daughters of American Revolution Good Citizen Award was awarded to Alicia Feyerherm.
The Country-Spalding Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution Challenge Coin was awarded to Tyra Henderson, Navy, Tate Kaiser, Army, and Andrew Prime, Army.
The KSHSAA Citizenship Award was awarded to Sophia Garrison and Dalyn Schwarz.
The Governors Scholars Award was awarded to Andrew Duke and Alicia Feyerherm.
The National Merit Scholarship Finalist as well as the Gannett Kansas’s 2021 All-State Academic Team was awarded to Andrew Duke.
