Class of 2021 attends senior obligation meetings

On Monday, May 10, there was a senior class obligation meeting during PRIDE Time.

According to counselor Amy Miller, principal Martin Straub planned on “going over the details for end-of-year check out, graduation and Project Graduation [and] discuss outstanding obligations, transcript requests, graduation practice and other important details.”

During the meeting, Straub announced that students need to get their transcript sent to the correct colleges and that seniors’ school emails will be retired after three weeks of graduating. If any changes are made between now and graduation, seniors need to let the counselors know.

Straub also discussed computer turn-in. Seniors started turning in their computers and chargers on May 10 during Guided Personal Study and will continue on May 11. If seniors still need their computer, they must check in with the Computer Care Unit. The latest seniors can check in their computers to the CCU is Thursday, May 13 during PRIDE Time. If a senior does not follow these instructions, their diploma will be held until they turn everything in.

During this meeting in the gym, Straub announced that the Class of 2021 does not have to wear masks to graduation on Sunday, May 23, but he emphasized that students should wear them to socialize.

Parents and guardians of the graduates must be seated in the upper deck of Fort Hays State University’s Gross Memorial Coliseum during graduation. As for elderly or disabled guests, there will be a spot on the floor for those who have health concerns or may not be able to make it up the stairs.

Project Graduation is coming up as well for the Class of 2021 on May 23 from 9 p.m. until about 2 a.m. Parents will arrive earlier based on what committee they are helping with. Straub clarified that students must have their Peace of Mind Agreement done and turned in as soon as possible to the office.

For this week, Straub also touched based on the Games Assembly during PRIDE Time on Friday at 11 a.m. On this day, lunch will be served inside or outside near the Totem Pole for the Achieve Team’s appreciation barbecue.

A follow-up meeting will be held in the Lecture Hall on Wednesday, May 12 during PRIDE Time.
