Chess Club participates in a virtual chess tournament
Chess Club competed against teams all over Kansas in a virtual tournament on March 6.
Individual placings are as follows:
Sophomore Noah Bruggeman – fifth
Senior Japheth Briney – eighth
Senior Raiden Hartman – 15th
Freshman Brooks Baczkowski – 18th
Senior Ean Dexter – 19th
Hays High had a total of eight participants and one sixth grade home-schooled participant. The team won a total of 12.5 games and won the first-place trophy.
“The next and final tournament will be next Saturday, March 13,” sponsor Erin Holder said. “This will be state chess.”
