Tutoring available for middle and high school students
With COVID-19 concerns and quarantines, it is difficult for some students to get the help they need in school. To counteract this, the First Presbyterian Church in Hays opened a free remote learning and tutoring center on Nov. 17.
The church was able to open and staff this opportunity because of a grant of money given to Ellis County through the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act, or CARES Act.
The site provides strong Wi-Fi and an undisturbed place for middle and high school students to work and study. Up to 20 students can sign up to be there at a time. They will be at distanced, and individual tables and masks are required.
The time slots available for students to come are from 3:30 to 6 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday, and 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. from Wednesday through Friday. Students must sign up beforehand at https://signup.com/go/bEVhPkV so that students can be limited and distanced.
