Dance team had its tryouts on September 2nd, 3rd, and 4th of last week.
Cristina Leos, a senior, Sammy Pfannenstiel, a junior, Taylor Depenbusch, sophomore, Keiarra Gonzales, sophomore, Sydney Pots, sophomore, Eileen Veatch, sophomore, and Brooke Leiker, a freshman.
Freshman Brooke Leiker joined the dance team this year as the team’s only new member.
“I am looking forward to doing the dances with everyone,” Leiker said.
Dance team will meet three times a week at 6 a.m. on Monday and Tuesday and at 7 p.m. on Thursdays. They are currently working on a halftime routine for football season.
“Our first performance will be at the first home football game, September 18,” coach Sarah Malott said.
While dance team did have many performances throughout last school year, one seems to be a favorite among the girls.
“Little Party from the first game last year,” sophomore Keiarra Gonzales said, while sophomore Eileen Veatch agreed, saying, “My favorite dance was Little Party.”
While this school year may have bumps in the road, the dance team looks forward to it.
“I am looking forward to hopefully preforming at all,” Veatch said.
While the team consists of six members, Malott said that new members could be added during the year.
“We are always happy to have new people join the team,” Malott said. “If you are interested or have any questions about joining, feel free to talk to me or one of the dancers.”

Rylie Fairbank is a sophomore, and this is her first year in newspaper. She absolutely loves anything “Mamma Mia” and ABBA. All fruit snacks are tropical and definitely not tangy. She plans to be a Pediatric Anesthesiologist in the future. She can quote every episode of “The Office,” “That ’70s Show,” “Friends,” “How I Meet Your Mother” and many more. If she is not hanging out with her friends or boyfriend, or really busy, she is probably watching one of the shows above, listening to ABBA or sleeping. But. to be honest, she’s never not busy.
