Scholars Bowl competes at first tournament this season in Goddard

The Scholars Bowl team sent six students to a junior varsity tournament at Goddard High School on Oct. 28.

The students included captain junior Anna Brull, juniors Allison Brooks and Alicia Feyerherm, sophomore Colton Dodd-Spencer and freshmen Evan Dealy and Bradyn Dreher.

There were 24 teams at the tournament, and it was structured into four different pools and then the top two teams in each pool moved on to bracket play.

The team placed first in their pool, winning every round, and then lost by 10 points in the quarterfinals.

“I was really proud of the team on Monday,” Brull said. “Although I would have liked to make it into the finals, I thought we performed really well.”

This was the first Scholars Bowl meet this season and Brull’s first time taking on the responsibility of being team captain.

“Being captain is definitely a little stressful because you have to make sure your team is doing the best they can and pay attention to what the other team is doing as well,” Brull said. “However, I really enjoyed being the captain, and I hope I can do it more in the future.”
