College Career Conference hosted in Gym A
The school hosted a College and Career Conference on Oct. 23 that had representatives from more than 40 colleges, technical schools, cosmetology schools and military branches.
The conference was held in Gym A during fourth hour; sophomores and juniors were required to attend, with sophomores going from 1:40 to 2:10 p.m., and juniors going from 2:20 to 2:50 p.m., while seniors had the option of attending.
It gave students the opportunity to ask questions directly to the schools in which they are interested.
“I learned a lot from the many different colleges I went to, but I’m still trying to figure out where to go to,” junior Erica Malleck said.
The schools were predominately from Kansas with a few representatives from the neighboring states of Nebraska and Oklahoma.
“The schools I wanted to visit the most were there, but I wish they had some out-of-state schools too, like from Colorado,” junior Grace Desbien said.
Students said they felt that this event benefited them by allowing them to ask questions and get a better idea of what they want to do after graduating high school.
“I benefited from it because it gave me a chance to learn more about what each college has to offer, and it helped me narrow down my options,” junior Fernando Zarate.
