Styles Dance Centre hosts recital to raise money for DSNWK
Styles Dance Centre hosted a recital to raise money for the Developmental Services of Northwest Kansas on Sunday, April 7.
“Dancing with DSNWK is this amazing fundraiser that Styles Dance Centre gets to host and participate in every year,” Styles dance member Hope Kisner said. “We raise money for DSNWK by selling tickets and having raffle prizes.”
The recital consisted of Styles members doing their individual dances with a few trios of one Styles member and two DSNWK members throughout. At the end all the DSNWK and Styles members did a group dance together.
For the group dance everyone was assigned a partner from DSNWK to practice with and they had two practices before the performance.
“We had two practices with them and all of the members came to our studio,” Styles member Hope Schumacher said. “At the first practice we got our partner and learned the dance and we went through it a few times.”
The second practice we spent going over the dance again and making sure all the members knew all of the dance moves.
“My partner was named Ryan,” Schumacher said. “He was a pretty funky dude, I loved working with him, he really knew what he was doing.”
After the final performance the Styles members left the stage and the DSNWK members went to the front and got flowers while confetti fell down.
“My favorite part was after the dances were done and I got to see the smiles on everyone’s faces,” Kisner said.
