Forensics team finishes with four finalists at Colby tournament

At the Colby Forensics tournament on Jan. 26, four students placed as finalists, two being novice competitors.

At the Colby Forensics tournament on Jan. 26, four students placed as finalists, two being novice competitors.

Forensics team competed at Colby on Jan. 26 with 16 entries.

The team placed 6th out of 12 schools, earning a total of 122 points.

Four students placed as finalists.

In Original Oration, freshman Shirley Lee-Jones placed 7th and senior Madeline Mewhinney placed 4th.

In Program or Oratory Interpretation, Lee-Jones placed 5th and freshman Jesi McAlvain placed 6th.

Six students were novice competitors at their first tournament and two were second year competitors.

“I think we did pretty well for not having a full team,” instructor Codi Fenwick said. “Especially since a lot of our competitors were first year students.”
