“Cheaper By The Dozen” was selected to be this year’s Spring Play.

The Spring Play meeting will be held on Monday, Dec. 3 and auditions will be held Dec. 12-13. The play this year will be “Cheaper By The Dozen.”

This particular play will be based off of the book written by Frank Gilbreth, not to be confused with the 2003 Steve Martin movie.

The play is about a man named Frank Gilbreth who traveled the world to help people become more efficient in factories. He then brought those same themes of efficiency back to his family life.

“The play is kind of humorous because he is so determined to make sure his family is very efficient,” play director Bill Gasper said. “It is also very sentimental as well, because he wants to make sure his kids are going to be prepared for life and to face the things they will have to face.”

Gasper selected this play because it is a well know title and it has a good sized cast.

“It has a nice number of 16 people in there, which is a good size for Spring Play,” Gasper said. “It also fits some of the people that I know are going to be returning from last year.”

Gasper has built in an eight week rehearsal schedule with practices from around 3:40 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

“We normally get about seven weeks in based on weather and school events and things like that,” Gasper said.
