The spirit days decided on by Student Council were approved for the 2018-19 Homecoming week.

The committee met on Aug. 11 to discuss ideas. Senior Connor Teget was in charge of the Spirit and Music Committee with senior Kallie Leiker helping out.

“We brainstormed different ideas for the spirit days and talked about a theme song for the candidates,” Leiker said. “There are probably around 20ish people in the committee, and Alyssa Underwood came up with three really good ideas. Then the rest of our committee voted on them, and we came to the conclusion that we really liked them.”

The days will include Space Jammy Monday, Oct. 1, Time Travel Tuesday, Oct. 2, Out of this World Wednesday, Oct. 3, which will include any space related attire. There will also be the traditional class color day Thursday, Oct. 4 and dress up day on Friday, Oct. 5.

“I just thought of the idea space day,” senior Alyssa Underwood said. “I looked online at like space themed spirit days and found ideas that correlated with the days, I guess.”

In the past, the school has not approved pajama days.

“He (Krannawitter) just kind of wondered if we’d done it in the past because some people might take it too far,” Teget said. “He said he has confidence in the high school that we can follow those rules and also to post them on signs and stuff so people know the rules.”

The spirit days will count for points which will be used for a competition between the classes.

“I think the spirit week will go really well because we picked out days that everyone can participate in some way or another,” Leiker said. I would say I’m most excited for the class competitions and games/float building and all the fun stuff.”
