The KSHSAA recently announced their classifications for the 2017-2018 year for all sports except football and the classifications for football as figured by enrollment.

The Kansas State High School Activities Association announced earlier today the changes in classifications for the 2017-2018 school year by enrollment figures from Sept. 20.

Many schools in the state have dropped or raised in classification. Hays will remain the same by retaining its 4A position. However, the school’s enrollment is 791, which is the highest number of which the KSHSAA capped 4A.
The changes will be effective immediately and apply to all activities other than football.

The 2018-2019 football classifications have also been released today along with the recent changes of classification.

The classification changes are based on enrollment figures from 9th to 11th grade.

Hays, with a figure of 621, bumps up to 5A, playing schools in the likes of Andover, Great Bend, Liberal, Kapaun Mt. Carmel among others.

The classifications have also changed, with 8-man divisions being added for much smaller districts.

Those changes will be in effect during the 2018-2019 school year.
