Spooky open mic night to be held at Hays Public Library
Spooky Open Mic Night is an event the Hays Public Library is putting on Oct. 28 to allow students to creatively express themselves, while celebrating Halloween.
The event consists of poetry and short story readings. Students can either read original pieces, or non original pieces.
English instructor Kathy Wagoner gives extra credit to students who participate in the event, or attend it.
“When students ask me for extra credit I normally say no,” Wagoner said. “But I want to promote students doing activities outside of school, especially if it deals with humanities. This is the first extra credit opportunity that I have given this year. The only thing I ask is for the students who attend to write a reflection over what they thought of the event.”
