C-SPAN bus to make trip in name of education

A rare opportunity has presented itself to the social science and journalism classes, as well as other students interested in politics. This upcoming Wednesday, Oct. 12, the C-SPAN interactive media bus will be parking itself in front of the school and allowing select students and teachers to go through it from G1 to Seminar.

C-SPAN is a 24/7 newscast that covers court hearings, House of Representatives proceedings, Senate proceedings and various other government related events.

The news network created an educational and interactive bus tour in 1996 and have advanced the program as time has went on. According to the C-SPAN website:

“The C-SPAN Bus travels the country to promote and enhance C-SPAN’s extensive resources and public access to the political process. Additionally, the Bus will visit book festivals, high schools, and universities and host students and teachers around the nation, giving them an inside look at C-SPAN’s comprehensive educational and political resources.”

When students and teachers board the bus this Wednesday, they will find web offerings with archived videos dating back to 1987,  mobile and social media connections with C-SPAN, interactive devices telling about the world of in-depth public affairs and interactive quizzes to test one’s political knowledge.

The event will be controlled in 15 minute time slots and each person attending will be put on a list, as there is a limit.
