Miracle Minute to take place during Maroon and Gold
The attendees of the Maroon and Gold kickoff are going to get the chance to participate in a new event this year. Seniors Kristen Nease, Brianna Brin and Maddie Keller are incorporating a charity that they support into this year’s fall sports opening ceremony.
“I had this project last year in DECA,” Nease said. “My partner and I got first place at State and we took it to Nationals.”
According to Nease, Hays High has had a tradition to work with the Ronald McDonald House for quite some time. She would like to show her support and use this opportunity to raise awareness to those in the community.
“That is my ultimate goal,” Nease said. “I just want to make people in Hays aware of what the Ronald McDonald House does. It’s such a good charity.”
Normally, the students collect metal pull tabs from pop cans, but for this specific event, they are going to be doing something a little bit different.
“We are going to do something called Miracle Minute,” Nease said. “We are going to pass buckets around for one minute and let people throw in donations or their spare change.”
