Proposal by seniors Sadler, Moore for new charity event

A new charity fad called ‘Lettuce Club’ has taken over the media since the ALS ice bucket challenge. In the event, people donate money to watch others eat full heads of lettuce. Seniors Tanner Moore and Ben Sadler are working to put together one of these events for the school.

“The Lettuce Club is a charity event to raise awareness for hunger,” Moore said. “To do this, students will consume lettuce in large quantities and donate money. Ideally, people will be donating money per lettuce head.”

The two seniors got the idea from the popular forum site 4Chan.

“I saw the idea and thought ‘Hey, that’d be cool,’” Moore said. “Then I asked around and others thought it’d be a good idea, too.”

The idea is to make the Lettuce Club into an organization that organizes one of these events annually.

“We’d like to be holding the event on a school day in April,” Moore said. “That’s all up to the students though. If they want it to happen, then they have to help us get sponsors to pay for the lettuce, and a teacher to sponsor the club.”
