“The one thing I’ve never been able to do is write about an event that shaped my life. One event builds to another. It’s hard to say exactly what the event is. It’s hard to say if it’s yet to come, or if it has happened already. And, how is it supposed to have changed me? Whether it changes my outlook or my lifestyle, it’s going to correlate almost totally with age. My outlook could be now, but my lifestyle is going to be more towards the future than the past. So I’ve never really been sure.”
