Student teacher becomes full time teacher
There are many changes at Hays High this year, including new staff members. Math teacher Erin Deenihan is one of the additions to this year’s staff.
Deenihan is replacing Lisa Colwell, who she student taught for last year.
“I really liked student teaching last semester, and since I went to Fort Hays all four years, I decided to apply for the job,” Deenihan said.
Deenihan wants to bring a new energy to her classroom with her way of teaching.
“I’m not too big on a silent classroom,” Deenihan said. “I try to get everyone as involved as I can, and try to spark discussion.”
Deenihan is enjoying her time teaching and is looking forward to what the year has to bring.
“This year has definitely been a different experience than my student teaching experience was,” Deenihan said. “But it’s always exciting.”
