Debate team makes state
The state debate tournament will be taking place today and tomorrow in El Dorado.
“The students competed in four minimum qualifying tournaments, each lasting five rounds,” debate instructor Zach Butte said. “They have to have winning records.”
Qualifying students are sophomore Hannah Norris, sophomore Adam O’Connor, sophomore Griffin Lowry, and senior Ben Rajewski.
“They took the class and learned exclusive terminology that comes with participation,” Butte said. “They brainstormed ideas and researched possible cases to argue against and create their own policies.”
Butte said these four students are very deserving of what they have accomplished.
“I hope the best for them,” Butte said. “We had fun and it would be nice if it all played out.”
