Jewelry class profile
The first semester of the school year is approaching its end, and with it, many single semester classes. Students may find themselves wanting to switch out at the beginning of the new year, to try something new. For someone who embraces their artistic side, Jewelry/Art Metal is just the class to keep them exploring their creativity.
Throughout the semester, students taking Jewelry/Art Metal will engage in many projects.
“The students have time to work on assigned jewelry projects,” Jewelry/Art Metal teacher James Mages said. “They range from simple rings to pendants and necklaces.”
Students enrolled in the class are now finishing up their ring projects.
“We are starting pendants, bracelets, and other cool goodies.” sophomore Cooper Flores said.
Flores shared his opinion of the class.
“I’m all about this class for many reasons,” Flores said. “For starters, I love Mr. Mages because I work with him outside of school.”
Flores also expressed how the class lets him create things he is proud of.
“I made this cool wave ring,” Flores said. “I think it’s so neat to me because I made it. I can take pride in it, and I get to wear it and show it off.”
Students interested in these kinds of projects only need the prerequisite of Art Exploration, which is a semester long class.
“I think Jewelry is a great class to take,” Flores said. “I actually might take it again next year.”
