National Honor Society recognizes accepted students

Eagle Communications Hall of Robin Center will be hosting the annual ceremony for students to be recognized in the selection of June Reynolds of National Honor Society. on Tuesday, Nov. 11.

Family members and friends are invited to this recognition to help celebrate students who were accepted into the program.

This year, Hays High has brand new sponsors for the National Honor Society Committee including Physics and chemistry teacher Jessica Butte and Physics teacher Cheryl Shepherd-Adams.

“The responsibility has been overwhelming,” Butte said. “But I am glad that Mrs. Colwell (last year’s sponsor) is here to answer any questions I have.”

Counselor Kathy Spicer also has very positive remarks about the association.

“I have very positive regards for this program and all the students who were accepted,” Spicer said. “I’m looking forward to working with the students and I admire their service projects.”

All of the students who applied for NHS have the opportunity to receive scholarships as well as certain recognition, however if not completing tasks or duties, students may be removed from the program.

The program is considered an honor to be accepted into.

“I’m excited and anxious to see what happens this year,” Butte said.
