PSAT to be taken Oct. 15

On Oct. 15, the PSAT will be taken by sophomores and juniors.

The test will provide an opportunity for sophomores to prepare for the ACT and the PSAT next year and scholarship opportunities for juniors.

Juniors will take the test in the Lecture Hall and sophomores in the Library as soon as school begins.

There are three parts to the test: math, critical reading, and writing skills. It is two hours and 10 minutes long. The maximum possible score is 240.

The purpose of the PSAT is to decide whether or not an individual is qualified for the National Merit Scholarship Program. Students can be recognized as commended, semifinalists, and then finalists.

Other factors help determine if a student qualifies for the program, such as GPA and SAT scores.
