Seminar: Back to passes
The beginning of a new school year often means changes to policies and new regulations. One of those changes this year is switching from the seminar log to seminar passes.
“There was a concern about the time spent signing kids in and out of seminar, especially since it was shorter last year,” Principal Martin Straub said. “That’s why we made the decision to use the logs last year.”
The move back to passes was the result of several things, Straub said, mostly because the log system was broken.
“Kids were leaving campus and hanging out in places without supervision,” Straub said. “There was no accountability. That’s why the log system didn’t work.”
Straub also said it was a matter of safety, since neither the parents nor the teachers had any idea whether or not the student actually was where they were signed out to go.
“We wanted to start on the right foot this year,” Straub said.
