CYO haunted house review
Students from both Hays High and TMP involved in CYO helped put on the annual haunted house at the mall. The haunted house took place on Oct. 28, Oct. 30 and Oct. 31.
The theme for the haunted house this year was Haunted Movie Theatre, and those visiting the haunted house walked through scenes from six scary movies. The most obvious movie scene was from The Shining, and the others were more subtle or less well-known movies.
Characters utilized the use of jump scares, loud noises and strobe lights. Individuals with epilepsy should not attend. The students putting it on were all dressed according to character and had relevant props.
A dark maze was between the first three scenes and the last three. Spooky characters roamed the maze to scare innocent maze-goers.
Candy was available at the end of the haunted house for those who went through it.
Since so many people were familiar, the spookiness of the haunted house was lower than it would have been if the volunteers were strangers. It was fun seeing peers participating in it and getting to experience it with them. I enjoyed the haunted house and would recommend going when it is put on again next year.
