Junior spends two hours daily playing Pokémon Go

Pokémon Go became a popular game over the summer. One student in particular that highly enjoys the game is junior Ashton Balthazor.

Balthazor has been a fan of Pokémon even before the game Pokémon Go came out. Balthazor enjoys the fact that the game forces him to go outside.

“Now when I go outside I can do more than just walk around,” Balthazor said.

Balthazor fits in two hours of playing Pokémon Go into his busy schedule each day, and he is now on level 15.

“I usually play Pokémon Go at the park near my friend’s house,” Balthazor said.

Balthazor wanted to lie and say the best Pokémon he has ever caught is a Snorelax, but he has in fact not caught one yet.

“I probably will catch a Snorelax someday,” Balthazor said.

Balthazor would fix the tracking system on the game if he could fix anything about the game.

“The tracking system on the game is broken and it makes me mad,” Balthazor said. “That would be the only thing I would change.”

Stories circulated the internet over the summer about out of the ordinary things that happened to people while playing Pokémon Go. Balthazor only has only had one thing happen to him while he was playing the game that he considers a fun story.

“One time when I was playing the game a really old lady called out to me and asked me if I had caught anything good yet,” Balthazor said. “It was kind of weird, but funny.”

Playing the game can cause many friendships to grow, or new ones to bloom. However, Balthazor does not think he has made any new friends, but he has made enemies over teams.

“One of my friends and I got into an argument in class over which team was better,” Balthazor said. “ I get really competitive when it comes to which team is the best.”
