Students share opinions on fast food
Unhealthy eating is considered to be a problem, and fast food is considered to be a big part of it.
Sophomore Jeanie Balzer tries to eat fast food only occasionally, but when things get busy it’s the easiest option for her.
“It depends on what’s going on in my life, since musical I’ve eaten fast food a lot,” Balzer said. “I normally don’t have it too often, it’s a waste of money.”
Freshman Alliana Drees prefers fast food to non-fast food, but tries to only eat it every once in a while.
“I like their cheeseburgers and fries better, and I think it’s good,” Drees said. “I eat it about two times a month.”
Junior Morgan Boeger favors home-cooked meals instead of fast food.
“Usually home meals are served better, and it’s nice to sit down with something,” Boeger said.
Freshman Hailey Jensen and Freshman Madison Key eat fast food about every other day. However, they prefer it as much as they prefer home-cooked meals.
“Food is food,” Jensen said.
Sophomore Grant Coffman gets fast food around once a week, and thinks it can be bad for you but depends on what you get.
“If you get the right things it can be okay for you to eat a lot,” Coffman said. “If you get something really unhealthy then it’s not good for you.”
Junior Ben Sadler eats fast food about once every two weeks. On a scale of 1-10 of unhealthiness, Sadler thinks fast food is a 6.7.
“If you compare it to other healthy and unhealthy foods it’s a 6.7,” Sadler said.
Boeger thinks fast food can be very harmful for people.
“Sometimes it can be very unhealthy, like McDonalds,” Boeger said. “You don’t really know what they’re putting into it.”
Balzer feels fast food should not be eaten often, and it should only be an every once in a while treat for people.
“It’s really unhealthy,” Balzer said. “If you eat it in moderation it’s not all that bad. It’s when people eat it for a while that it’s bad.”
Sadler thinks if someone wants to eat it a lot they can, but he also thinks it’s unhealthy for people. He personally prefers home-cooked meals instead.
“Fast food doesn’t taste as good as other food in my opinion,” Sadler said.
Balzer thinks it’s easier to go home and make food than to eat fast food all of the time.
“Fast food is expensive and really bad for you,” Balzer said. “It’s easy to go home and make something like a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for yourself.”
Coffman feels fast food is very greasy compared to other foods.
Key and Drees both think fast food has a lot of fat in it.
“Eventually, it’ll mess up your body,” Boeger said.
