Students remember ‘The Voice’ star, Christina Grimmie
NBC’s ‘The Voice’ star and YouTube sensation, Christina Grimmie, was fatally shot June 10 during a meet and greet with fans.
Grimmie was 22.
Long time fans of Grimmie, like senior Ragan Arnold, said the death of ‘The Voice’ star has impacted her life.
“I’ve been a fan of [Grimmie] for a little over five years,” Arnold said. “I discovered her on YouTube. Her username was Zeldaxlove64 and I loved her voice.”
Arnold said her favorite song by Grimmie is ‘Liar, Liar’.
Freshman Madison Weber said hadn’t really heard of Grimmie before her death.
“It’s sad that there are so many crazy people in the world,” Weber said. “Christina was so ambitious and from what I can tell she really loved her fans.”
Arnold said she didn’t expect to feel so affected by Grimmie’s passing.
“Her death made me realize that we are literally not safe anywhere,” Arnold said. “I do think her death could have been prevented by metal detectors and better security.”
The man who killed her was Kevin James Loibl, 27, of St. Petersburg, Florida, according to Orlando police.
