10 of the coolest museums to visit during the summer
Located in Somerville, Mass., this museum is dedicated to showcase “bad art in all its forms and in all its glory”.
Located in either New Orleans, La. or Los Angeles Calif., the Museum of Death was founded in June of 1995. Here you can view many morbid attractions including serial murderer artwork, original crime scene and morgue photos from the Black Dahlia murder, execution devices and many more.
3. International Spy Museum
This museum is soley dedicated to espionage. Located in Washington D.C., the International Spy Museum teaches tips and tricks of spies. Some of the attractions include a single-shot pistol disguised as a lipstick tube and many hands on exhibits.
4. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Museum
This Ohio museum has seven floors. Four of them are theaters for films and other events. Rock and Roll fans from all across the country come to see exhibits like John Lennon’s report card, a smashed guitar from Paul Simonton and James Brown’s tuxedo coat.
Shrunken heads, one-eyed pigs, Fiji mermaids, a two headed chicken and many more attractions can be found at this oddities museum.
6. The Museum of Jurassic Technology
This museum doesn’t allow the use of any cell phone usage of any kind while in the museum, including pictures. Many objects from the jurrasic age of technology are featured as well as a beautiful tea garden located on the on the roof.
The owner of this museum is well into his nineties and has over 1,000 works of toilet seat art. Located in San Antonio, Tex., Visitors are welcome to bring their own toilet seat lids and the owner will gladly engrave their name into the seat to give them credit. When the owner passes on, he would like for one of his daughters to take over the collection.
8. The Center for Puppetry Arts
One of the largest museums dedicated to puppetry is located in Connecticut.
Located in Lawrence, Kan., this museum includes exhibits such as ventriloquist dummies and approximately 350 sock monkeys.
