Instructor Bill Gasper and some of his band mates receive their awards at the alumni banquet on September 22.

Instructor Bill Gasper and the rest of his band members were inducted into the Victoria High School Alumni Hall of Fame on Sept. 22.

“Each year they have an alumni banquet and elect a former teacher as well as a student or outstanding community member into the hall of fame,” Gasper said.

All of the members of Jimmy Dee and the Fabulous Destinations graduated from Victoria High School in various years. They were chosen to be inducted into the Hall of Fame because of the work they have done throughout their careers in the music field.

Jimmy Dee and the Fabulous Destinations consists of Jim Schmidtberger, Tony Pfeifer, Tim Pfeifer, Ray Schmidtberger, Joe Dreiling and Bill Gasper. The band has been together for over 40 years and continue to perform at different events around Kansas.

“I am humbled and very honored, and I know the rest of the band is too,” Gasper said. “Primarily we got in because of our musicianship. We have had a lot of people influence us in the past whether it be teachers, other musicians and even my other band mates. To be able to stick together for that long is a big accomplishment because most bands do not even make it a year.”
