Both boys and girl’s cross-country team traveled to Great Bend to compete. Freshman Dawson Vonfeldt placed 14 in his first varsity race. Sophomore Yesenia Maldonado also placed ninth in her first meet of the season.

Dawson VonFeldt placed with a time of 18:22:00 in the 3.1-mile run. The boys team placed fifth out of eight teams.
Vonfeldt said he was happy with how he ran and hopes for improvement throughout the season.

Running in the same meet were the girls placing third out of five teams. Yesenia Maldonado ran a 22:46:00. Maldonado said that she was very pleased with her performance as well as her team’s performance for their first meet.
“I was more excited than nervous. The nerves didn’t really hit me until I was up at the line before the race, but once the gun went off I forgot about everything and just ran,” Maldonado said.
