Girls basketball falls to Pratt, 57-42

Numerous turnovers proved to be a major factor in the Lady Indians 57-42 loss to Pratt on Dec. 9.

The girls had 20 miscues during the game, and Pratt took advantage of them on the offensive end, outscoring Hays by a 16-12 advantage in the first quarter before taking a 28-21 halftime lead.

After the break, Pratt continued where it left off, outscoring the Indians by a 12-7 margin to increase their lead to 40-28. In the final stanza, Pratt went on a 17-14 run enroute to the 15-point victory.

Ashlyn Parrish had 10 for the Indians, followed by Talyn Kleweno with eight. Scoring seven points and pulling down nine boards was Audra Schmeidler. Haley George scored seven while grabbing eight rebounds, followed by Mattie Schlaefi and Nicole Dinkel with four points each. Rounding out the scoring with one point was Maddie Keller.

The girls, now 1-3 on the year, will travel to Colby on Dec. 11 before rounding out their pre-Christmas slate at home on Dec. 16 against Junction City.
