No pep at pep assemblies

A couple times a year all of the students go to the gym for a pep assembly.  However, many students would agree that pep assemblies aren’t very peppy.

Normally students don’t really want to volunteer to play the games that are setup for each class to compete in.

Some students think of pep assemblies as creating memories of high school while others think of it as a waste of time.

In seminar I even heard my seminar teacher say that going to the Indian Call games assembly was twenty-five minutes he would never get back. This brings out the thought of what makes the assembly so bad.

I notice that people don’t like going to assemblies when they have stuff to do during seminar.

I think having assemblies during seminar makes students dislike them because its either during their break or their heavy duty work time.

When assemblies happen without much warning, there are always a bunch of whines coming from the students. I think that if they were announced ahead of time, students wouldn’t be as discouraged to go to them.

I see people bring their work to study during pep assemblies because they need their seminar time.

Our school shows its peppiness at basketball and football games but don’t at pep assemblies. However, it only takes one person to encourage the rest of the school to join in.

Senior Brett Hertel is a good example of someone who has tried to encourage the rest of the school to join in on cheering. This year he taught the student section to do a choreographed routine at basketball games called the rollercoaster.

Students should enjoy going to assemblies because they are part of the high school experience. However, sometimes 40 minute seminar break can seem more important than an assembly when in the moment.
