Scholar’s Bowl takes first at Phillipsburg meet

After winning first place the team went to a restaurant called the Chubby Pickle to celebrate. HHS went went 9-0 and took first place.

The Scholar’s Bowl team traveled to Phillipsburg on Monday, Jan. 21 to compete in a round robin style tournament with nine other teams.

The other schools that competed were Plainville, Osborne, Stockton, Ellis, Phillipsburg, Norton, Thomas More Prep-Marian, Smith Center and Decatur County.

Scholar’s Bowl team members senior Cameron Karlin, junior Levi Hickert (captain) and sophomores Andrew Duke, Skylar Zimmerman and Allison Brooks competed at this meet.

The meet consisted of nine rounds so every team had the opportunity to go against all the other teams there.

HHS went 9-0 winning all of their rounds and taking first place overall.

“It was a good opportunity to gear up for regionals,” Scholar’s Bowl sponsor Cheryl Shepherd-Adams said. “Right now we are doing everything we can to make our team as versatile as possible.”
