DECA students are taking a trip to Brookdale assisted living center on Wednesday, Nov. 14 where they will be making stockings with the senior citizens.

“They will be helping us cut out, glue and decorate these stockings with the “Wish List” for the Ronald McDonald House Charities,” senior Kallie Leiker. “These stockings will then be delivered to churches around town so they can hang them up.”

The purpose of the trip is to spread awareness about the Ronald McDonald House Charities to another generation.

“This year we are really focusing on spreading awareness so we are trying to reach elementary students, middle school, high school, parents and senior citizens in our community,” Leiker said.

Some of the ways they have reached out to other generations in our community is the pull tab collecting competition they are having at the middle school and high school.

They are also planning on going to an elementary school and making snowman crafts to give to the children who live in the Ronald McDonald houses.

“It’s really important that we get the information about the charities out,” senior Isabelle Braun said. “We’re really excited to work with the elderly people at Brookdale, and they seem excited to participate.”
