Senior Dusty Schneider speaks during the baccalaureate session.

Baccalaureate is a religious nondenominational worship session for seniors before they graduate. The session is held in recognition of the accomplishment seniors have achieved by graduating and helps prepare them for college.

Senior Brendan Chapman was among those in attendance and was one of the Student Council executives who helped organize the event which took place at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 9 at 12th Street Auditorium.

“Baccalaureate is headed by Student Council,” Chapman said.  “Baccalaureate had multiple people who speak throughout the service. Speakers are usually asked by the Student Council to speak. They usually are related to the graduates, the student speakers are also asked by Student Council.”

Speakers this year included Pastor Sager and Tim Nunnery, as well as seniors Cheyenne Adkins, Sarah Wyse, Zachary Wagner, Adam Klausmeyer, Dusty Schneider and Kamree Markley.

Baccalaureate also had two performances from music groups, including seniors singers (which is any attending senior who participated in Concert Choir or Chamber Singers) and the Vivaldi Quartet.

“The senior singers performed “friends” at the end of the session,” Chapman said.

The Vivaldi Quartet, which contained seniors Brendan Chapman and Trinity Callis, as well as juniors, Alexandria Hagerman and Carl Rorstrom, also performed prior to the session.
