You try to turn on your laptop, but all you see is a blank screen. After shaking it and ramming the power button a few times, you take it to the CCU.

“We repair the school laptops, replacing equipment components; projector bulbs, printer maintenance kits, and some cabling.” CCU personnel Steven Grant said.

The CCU workers Steven Grant and Garrett Bland fix electronics throughout the school, such as fixing the laptop’s problems, or determining if it’s worth the cost it takes to fix them.
“Sometimes a problem comes up that cannot be fixed,” Grant said.

While some problems are a simple fix, such as installing a java update, other problems like extreme computer damage, can’t be fixed. It’s part of their job to determine if a problem is worth the cost it takes to fix it.

“The best part of my job would have to be the technology and the people,” Grant said. “It provides opportunities to interact with a variety of individuals and work on challenging issues from time to time.”

The job doesn’t just help the students, it also helps Grant be challenged and get him more into the technology. Even in his free time, he spends a part of it researching issues so he can be better prepared.

“I have always had an interest in technology, Grant said. “Anything that I could take apart and figure out how it worked.”
