‘Life is Strange’ creates incredible game play
“Life is Strange” is a story-based, episode graphic adventure game published by Square Enix. The choices the player makes in the game affect the overall outcome of the story. It’s initial release date was Jan. 29, 2015. The game is now available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Microsoft Windows, Linux and Mac OS.
The story line of “Life is Strange” follows Max Caulfield, a senior in high school with a passion for photography who discovers she can rewind time. After reuniting with her best friend, Chole Price, the pair finds themselves investigating the mysterious disappearance of fellow student Rachel Amber. Together, they uncover a dark side to Arcadia Bay, where the pair lives. Meanwhile, Max must quickly learn that changing the past can sometimes lead to a terrible future.
This game is absolutely beautiful. It has a fantastic plot line and incredible character development. I found myself way more invested in this game than I had originally intended to be. The story features intense twists and turns that leave you wanting more answers. It felt like I was controlling the outcome to a movie.
Since the game features a multitude of choices, the the amount of game play you get from purchasing this game is practically unlimited. Literally every choice you make (even the smallest ones) have an impact on the ending of the game. So, each time you play, you’ll probably get a different result. My initial play through lasted me about 14 hours total, but if you don’t pay attention to too much detail it could probably played through in 12.
I would recommend this game to anyone who has an interest in story-based games. The stunning characterization and ending nearly brought me to tears. The crazy twists and turns leave you wanting more, even after you finish the game. I give this game a solid 10/10.
