“If I Stay” movie review

“If I Stay” was released to theaters on Aug. 22, 2014, and has a running time of 106 minutes.  Based on the novel by Gayle Forman, “If I Stay” is one of the newest romantic movies to hit the big screen.

The plot centers around Mia Hall, a 17 year old girl whose life dramatically changes after her and her family are in a car accident. Mia has an out-of-body experience, and is able to watch her family be carried off to a hospital along with her own body.

The movie has flashbacks to Mia’s earlier life with her rocker dad and mom. It shows how eager Mia was to improve her cello playing, and how she meets her boyfriend Adam, who is in a band. Since they’re both passionate about music, they bond quickly and very soon fall in love.

Since I read the book before the movie was released, I was very excited to see this in theaters. Very few things that were in the book were left out of the movie, which is great. The complex story line to both the book and the movie is easy to follow, and incredibly entertaining.

I believe that the actors playing the roles of Mia and Adam fit their parts perfectly. Personally, I think the movie was nearly as perfect as the book was.

It’s a great story, and definitely a romantic one, which is great even if you didn’t read the book first. I give it a nine out of ten.
