This year students from German I and II have the opportunity to go the 2019 Schülerkongress on March 2. The Schülerkongress is an event held at Kansas University in Lawrence.

Students that take German from all over come to this event to participate in German activities like Lyrik-zieterien (poetry recitation), Prosa vorlesen (short prose reading), scavenger hunt at local museum, poster contest, video contest, song room Chor (choir) and Tanz (folk dancing).

“I am most excited to meet other people from different places that also speak German and to have fun doing some German games,” freshman Anneliese Marecic said.

German teacher Melanie Folkerts requires students that go to participate in the Landeskunde quiz.

On March 2, students that are going, will meet in the HHS teacher parking lot at 5:15 a.m. and depart at 5:30 a.m. Students will return around 6:00 p.m.

“I do recommend students go on the trip,” senior Kaleigh Ashbaugh said. “Not only is it a learning experience, but it’s also really fun. I met a lot of nice people this way, too.”
