Seniors Jersey Johnson and Nate Brooks were crowned as the 2022 Indian Call queen and king during half-time of the Feb. 18 boys basketball game.

Indian Call week concluded with royalty being crowned during halftime of the boys basketball game on Feb. 18 and the dance happening on the following evening.

King candidates were seniors Nate Brooks, Ashton Hernandez, Connor Jacobs, Jace Linenberger and Noah Weimer. Queen candidates were seniors Jersey Johnson, Grace McCord, Lauryn Miller, Jocelyn Rigler and Caroline Robben.

Winners of Indian Call king and queen were Brooks as king and Johnson as queen.

“My initial thought was, ‘Wow, I won. This is pretty cool,’” Brooks said. “Being crowned king means a lot to me because I wasn’t just randomly selected; I was picked by my peers, so that meant a lot.”

Like Brooks, Johnson said she was also surprised to be crowned.

“I was very shocked when I was crowned Indian Call queen,” Johnson said. “I had many different emotions going through my head because I felt so grateful, but I also knew that everyone else deserved it, too!”

Johnson said the moment was very special and something that she wanted to share with the other candidates.

“The whole experience was something I will not forget, and the group of people that I got to experience it all with was amazing,” Johnson said.
