Halloween’s steady approach has encouraged many to look for ways of getting into the spirit of the holiday.

One such method is to go to haunted houses like the one at 1108 Main St., which is open every Friday and Saturday until Halloween from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Three sisters — Ashley Green, Megan Pray and Elise Williams – along with Steven Brummer are organizers of the event.

The theme of the “Haunted Hotel” this year is an outbreak of zombies. Several Hays High students work the event, one such being sophomore Galahad Nichols.

“I decided to work it because how fun it was last year, and it didn’t disappoint this year either,” Nichols said.

Nichols plans to work the weekends of Oct. 22-23 and Oct. 29-30.

“The best part is scaring the people who are easily scared or being creepy rather than trying to jump scare,” Nichols said.

Admission to the “Haunted Hotel” is $10.
